I’m a big fan of 28 Days Later; I’m definitely more into stories with fast infected than traditional shamblers. So I was stoked to come across a project called 28 Days Later – The Rage, a fan-made short film that takes place in the 28 Days Later universe.

Available in three parts on YouTube, it follows a small squad of British (Scottish?) military and a civilian doctor as they try to retrieve information on the origin of the Rage virus from a hospital in infected territory. You know how zombies and/or infected never seem to attack each other? The Rage builds on that idea; to help protect their party, the soldiers are given a pheremone shot to make the infected think the soldiers are already infected, and leave them alone.

It seems to work… for a while…

Considering that it was made for basically zero budget, I thought it was excellent. You can tell they tried to approximate the visual style of the original movie and they did a good job. The weapons effects were obviously added in post-production, and in some parts the accents were so strong I couldn’t tell what they were saying, but the story is great, and there’s even a bit of a twist at the end that’s worth the price of admission itself.

All in all, it’s a good way to pass half an hour. You can check out their Facebook group, or episode one is below.
